Play...

Creativity may be found anywhere, at any place...
even at work!
I carry a camera in my bag at all times, however, this photo was shot using my iPhone as I watched my school children play. This little girl looked so cute, romping on the playground equipment in her frilly skirt...
I saw an opportunity to get creative... and to also make work even more enjoyable!
I too, love to PLAY!

Things With Wings...

I am sitting on the sofa, wrapped up in my "Snuggie", sipping hot beverages. Yes, I am nursing a cold.
Although it has been a very mild Winter here in Kansas, I still wish for Spring to hurry up and arrive.
Possibly this is why I have been painting things with wings.
I look forward to planting a garden, watching flowers bloom, and butterflies dancing!
For now, I can only paint my own Spring!

Handmade Valentine's...

First, I painted several hearts using watercolors on heavy, watercolor paper. The scroll designs were achieved by simply doodling onto the paper with a wax crayon before applying the watercolors. This technique is called, "wax resist".
Allow the paint to dry and then cut out the hearts.

You may want to embellish your hearts with silk flowers, paper roses, buttons, lace, etc. I made this paper rose!

Glue hearts onto blank cards and add your message!
Deliver to the post office...

Return home and eat chocolate!

Hearts Galore!

Hello, February... the "Love" month! For several years now, it has also been my most dreaded month! For me, it was a month that did not bring flowers or romance...
but instead, grey skies, colder weather and loneliness! Hmmm...
could this all be changing for me at last?

Inside of my moleskine journal I see hearts galore! They seem to be popping up in much of my artwork these days! (giggle giggle).

I could not seem to stop with just a single page with this entry!
Today, I welcome February with open arms and a happy heart.
Today is especially fulfilling for me as I am enjoying a day of creativity and "catch-up". Yes, I have been very busy working with kiddos and even took an after school position. Creating a new life altogether keeps me challenged but things are truly falling into place! Eventually, I will settle into my new routine and will be blogging consistently.

Wishing everyone a perfect day!

Art Studio Bliss! (Update)

Okay! This blog post may seem very much like the last post, however....
much progress has been made!
Look closely.
Paul installed some fabulous shelving in my new art studio!

It did not take me long to fill them up with some of my favorite things!

I am still NOT finished with the art studio decorating or this painting! Sigh.
Soon, I hope! I really am looking forward to spending an entire day in this lovely room...
doing nothing but creating!
Until next time,

Studio Sneak Peek!

What a busy week it has been! During the days I have been subbing in a preschool class with some very "busy"(but adorable) children! In the evenings I have continued to un-box art supplies and set up this new art studio space! Still not completed, but I wanted to show you my progress. First of all, just look at this incredible window! My late Grandmother's chair and a perfect, country view creates a wonderful place to sit with a cup of coffee before starting a project!

It has taken countless hours to organize all of my paints, ink pads, books, magazines, tools, mediums, etc. I like to keep it attractive! I'm so glad that I have managed to hold onto my vintage Pepsi crate throughout my moves! It has worked nicely for my play paints!

I can now see many of my fabrics.

Please, excuse the mess. I still have things sitting on the floor or just tossed onto the shelves...
but I'm getting so very close to having a finished, workable space...

and also getting back to some un-finished ART!
