Owl, Kisses, and Creativity...

Hello again!

How is your week going?

I'm off to a pretty good start.

Recently, I had a client request some baby gifts in an owl theme, using aqua, white, and grey.

The first step for me was to begin sketching owls so that I could create my own character to use as my reference.

After drawing different body shapes, head shapes, eyes...

I came to the conclusion that I preferred my owls fat and furry with huge eyes!

I have been painting owls for days now!

Fun for a change, I will say.

My client wanted a few different pieces to coordinate together.

I ended up with a picture frame, canvas, wood plaque, and an ornament (still unfinished).

I love the soothing colors for a baby's room.

I also completed the "Always Kiss Me Goodnight" canvas by adding some beautiful texture and a scroll design.

Now I want one for our bedroom!

I have also made time for playing, "Miss Photographer", using my Sony telephoto lens (on my Sony nex 5r).

The lens rocks!

How about that ice sculpture hanging from our roof top?

Yes, it's still Winter here.

A great time to be busy painting... Indoors!

Tell me what you have been doing!

Enjoy your evening!

XO

Love You To The Moon...

February!

The love month.

I did not get around to posting a traditional red, pink, and white blog post. Of course, it was on my mind, but I was busy painting in blues, purple, and gold.

Keeping odd hours around here. Enjoying the light of the moon.

And since hubby and I celebrated Valentine's Day early so that he could take off for a trip...

it came and went so quickly. I did not even get out all of our glittery heart decorations for the home. Instead, I kissed him goodbye and I continued to paint moons.

Large canvases.

Itty bitty canvases.

And ornaments galore!

After sharing some pics on my "Missy Trent Art & Offerings" Facebook page, all but two of the ornaments sold, along with both tiny canvases! So...

I think that I will be painting more moons this week!

Still trying to decide what kind of ribbon to add to the ornaments. I'm quite fond of this sparkly moon yarn!

So, we are certainly feeling the love here. To the moon and back!

I do hope that you had a nice Valentine's Day and that you have been showered with love!

Blessings to you!

XO

Sweet Itty Bitty...

Hello and happy Friday!!!

There's just something joyful about Fridays.

Around here, we wake up excited on a Friday morning. My sweetheart greets my morning face by blurting out, "it's Friday, baby"!

We know that this day of the week is the start of some serious play, rest, road trips, and eating sweet desserts!

What girl doesn't adore a pretty dessert adorned with sugary fluff?

I also love to paint desserts.

I finished another itty bitty canvas last night.

I'm working with acrylics, which I must confess...

Is difficult for me.

Watercolors are my thing!

Yet, I try.

I never limit my boundaries in art. I explore all mediums.

I enjoy every minute.

Just as I enjoyed tasting each one of these sweet treats.

Yes, when we go to a buffet, we sample as many desserts possible.

I take a few bites...

He takes a few bites.

We trade desserts back and forth.

Aren't they lovely?

(I do not allow any bites until after I have photographed each dessert)!

I must go pack my overnight bag now.

We are going to meet my family...

And get my sweet niece settled into her new college home.

Oh my, where have the years gone?

We will laugh and dine...

And eat desserts!

Enjoy your weekend, friends!

Tubas and the Blues...

Helloooooo, out there!

Just a real quick blog post. This sickness in our house has worsened! We sit here with our tissue boxes, sneezing, coughing... Hoping that tomorrow will be better. It was a terribly long day at work. My Monday mornings begin with a band class... 75 students beating on drums, blowing trumpets and tubas. Wonderful kids, indeed...

But some days the head can only take so much noise!

I am fortunate to have time at work to dabble in my sketchbook. It's great for stress!

I have no zest to complete this journal entry. It just might remain this way- very blue.

It certainly reveals my true state of mind right now. Overloaded with the Winter blues. Cold. Heavy.

I know that all will be perfect again once we rid of this nasty virus. Yes, it will be!!! Can't wait!!!

That's all I have for today!

Winter Blues To Positive...

I'm trying to focus on the positive things about Winter!

Another snow day... And again tomorrow. Keep in mind, I also had two snow days last week! I have not used my time wisely... For art, I mean. So, after preparing chicken noodle soup for the crockpot, and baking cornbread muffins, I did some art journaling. I feel terribly "blocked". My normal routine is off and I really don't feel all that creative. I am so glad that I also have a passion for photography. Even when I'm simply "not feeling it"... It's effortless for me to pick up my camera and shoot interesting pictures. With that being said, the first positive statement that I can say about Winter is...

It's absolutely breathtaking and beautiful when the snow is falling!

This morning I went out and captured these gusty moments! This is the biggest snowfall that Kansas has experienced in years! I took these pics with my iphone4s. I'm just not ready to expose my new camera to these weather conditions!

More great things about Winter-

It is a cozy time. I love being in my sweats and thick socks, sipping hot beverages. I nap rather soundly. It's so peaceful here.

Peace to you all too!

I enjoy the warm meals that we seem to pine for during cold, Winter months.

Because I was at home today, I got to have lunch with Paul today! It was so yummy!

I've had fun hanging out on Facebook more during these snowy days! Oh... And watching tv! I also nibbled on some chocolate this afternoon!

Winter. I'm liking it more today. Really, I am!

I type this from the bedroom, where we have very large windows, and I have the curtains open. It's snowing again! Oh my!!!!!

Huge, fluffy flakes! It's a perfect scene.

Blessings to all and please, do stay warm!
