A Story Too Good Not To Share...

Hello, dear readers and how are you?

Today I would like to share a story. It is a story that needs to be told.

At the beginning of this new year I was contacted by a client. She asked me if I would be interested in helping her to fulfill her new year's resolution. We began messaging one another, after all, I was quite curious.

She wanted to become a better person in 2014, and to spread kindness to others through gift giving anonymously. She wanted to give art and asked me if I would create for her recipients. I was so touched by this entire project and by her generousity...

I immediately committed!

This lovely person has commissioned me to do a new piece of art, each month, throughout the 2014 year, for someone whom has either been an influence to her in her life, or to someone who is struggling with illness or a personal crisis. This month the recipient was a woman who was bullied throughout her school years.

I must confess, I have shed some tears while painting. I think about the person who will be receiving my art. I always hope that they will love it and that the piece will brighten their day. Most importantly, I wonder and hope that they have good lives.

I get to play "detective" as well! I locate these people through Facebook and do some snooping, in hopes to discover things that they may like or their favorite colors. I have even Messaged friends of theirs, explaining who I am and what I am doing- directing them to my Facebook business page to provide them with a sense of security.

My client has asked that I never reveal her name. I keep the promise and simply ship the finished art to the recipient, with a card. No name... Just an explaination and "enjoy this gift".

This is the third piece (11" x 16" acrylics/mixed media on stretched canvas), in which I have painted for the project. (The March recipient), who I discovered decorates her home in earth tones. Her favorite saying is, "Love you More"...

Something that her deceased grandfather used to say to her and her two sisters. He also called them "birds". So, the three birds represent she and her sisters.

I have never enjoyed a project as much as this one. My heart and emotions are really into it! I get so excited for the next assignment from this angel...

Which by the way, will go to a cancer patient.

Friends, I just had to share this story. It is a story that has also inspired me to become a better person and to carry on with the random giving of art once this project is completed.

I'm not wealthy, but I do have a talent and a passion that can be shared with others. All it takes is some time and shipping costs...

But the rewards that I gain by giving are always so grande!

I am so richly blessed and wish that for everyone out there!

Have a wonderful weekend, dear ones!

XO

Mid December Ornaments...

Hello out there!

Can you believe that it's already mid December?

The days go by so quickly (to me anyway). It just doesn't seem true that I left my day job nearly one month ago.

I have kept so busy, still selling my Christmas ornaments like mad! Each morning I am in my art studio...

never, ever late for work! Giggle. Giggle.

And each night, I restlessly lay in bed, my head spinning with new ideas to be created. Folks, I'm so tired that today I took the time to simply sit, breathe slowly, and nap! (It's certainly a wonderful kind of tired though).

I wear a smile when I'm shaping clay into itty bitty babies.

I then laugh out loud once I get their little faces painted! Oh, yes, these babies make me very happy! Even husband laughs at them and says, "Look at those big heads"!

Hey! Are you following me over on my Facebook page? (Missy Trent Art & Offerings). I do hope that you will, if not already.

Once Christmas has passed, I will spend the month of January creating Valentine offerings. I post all of my creations onto my Facebook page first, and frequently.

We had a dusting of snow on Monday! Today the sun is shining brightly, although it's still rather cold outside. I even wore my mittens to the country post office this week. I love our post office! Silly to say, I know...

But if you ever watched the television series, "The Andy Griffith Show"... The little town called, "Mayberry", is much like ours. (A bit more modernized, of course)! Seriously, I can go into the post office and often be the only customer in line...

Or, in a line of only two people, who are visiting because they know one another. The clerk is always smiling and very friendly. A trip to the post office and back home never takes me longer than 15 minutes.

I used to dread post office days when I sold my creations on eBay, in my home town. It was a chore to stand in a long line with my stack of boxes...

Only to be greeted by a very stressed out postal clerk.

Yes, I appreciate my new community and good ol' country living!

Ok, my friends. I shall close here and wish you a wonderful rest of the week!

Until next time...

XO

Joyful December Ornaments!

Hello, friends!

Don't you just love December?

I'm sitting here this morning, coffee in hand... admiring our lighted Christmas tree. It's c-c-c-cold outside. Frost on the windows. Grey skies.

The spirit of Christmas is scattered throughout the house. Boxes ready to ship. I'm happy to announce that my ornaments are selling out again and again! If I only had some hard working elves to help, I could produce even more of them...

But, I don't. Sigh.

After being inside for days, making, painting, sculpting, and boxing...

It was nice to get out Friday night, with hubby. We went into the city for dinner and shopping. Afterwards, we took a slow drive down Mass street in Lawrence, Kansas, to enjoy the lovely lights.

I snapped some pics from the car. (Not the best), however, I wanted to share!

My heart is happy and filled with such joy!

I wish this for each and every one of you as well.

Now, back to my work table, I go!

I shall meet you right back here, very soon!

Baby Hung the Moon...

Hello!

Happy December!!!!

I do hope that you had a fabulous Thanksgiving!

We sure did. It's always nice to return to the place that was home to me, for 45 years. I always wish that I had more time to visit with family and friends. I dream of one day owning a little house in my home town, where I may return... bringing tons of art supplies, and stay for a month at a time. Maybe it will happen?

We are now back home, on the prairie, and back into our normal routine. He goes to work...

I go to work work...

Only these days I work in my art studio and I couldn't be happier!

Today I completed these:

"Baby Hung The Moon" ornaments.

What a labor of love.

I even sculpted and glittered each tiny moon!

I'm done for the day. (With ornaments, that is). There's always house to tend to and meals to make. Yesterday I kept my word to hubby...

And baked him some real cupcakes!

Not bad, huh?!!!

Words cannot even begin to express my joy! I absolutely love being at home. Being a wife and being an artist are my most fulfilling roles in this life. I no longer have the stress, anxiety, and depression that came with my former day job. I feel so alive and can't wait to get out of bed each morning to work... As an artist.

At age 48...

At this moment, I can honestly say that I have everything that I have ever wanted. (Except for the little house in my home town). Lol.

Not the material things...

But the things that truly matter to me.

Blessed.

Wishing the same for each one of you.

Live your dreams!

What are your thoughts?

Hello, friends!

Guess what I woke up to this morning?

Ice!

Yes, ice!

At that moment I felt even more grateful to be at home, in my pajamas...

and in my magical room, where fairytales do come true!

I've been painting for days. This first week off from work has slipped away from me. Time does fly when you are having fun, indeed!

I have just completed a series of ceramic angel ornaments!

No two are alike, and each girl seems to have her very own sweet personality!

The backside is colored as well, (without the angel)... allowing space for personalizing.

I go back and forth with thoughts on selling my art on etsy. I seem to do quite okay selling through word-of-mouth and via Facebook. What are your thoughts on this? Please, tell me!

By the way, I'd love to have you "like" my Facebook page! Please, come and join my little art community! I'm bringing it back to life... With intentions of making it an enjoyable interactive space with tutorials, giveaways, art projects... Possibly some future swaps and collaborative art journaling! What do you think? Does this interest you at all? Of course, it's also a place where I do promote and offer my creations for sell. Anyway, drop by, won't you?

It's just another thing that was placed on the back burner, due to the day job. It's so nice to be doing such things... Without watching the clock!

Aside from art, I've been cooking up some lovely meals and even baked a batch of peanut butter cookies today!

Staying warm!

I shall see you again very soon!

Blessings!
